I keep seeing people making fun of using growled, hissed, roared, snarled etc in writing and it’s like.
have you never heard someone speak with the gravel in their voice when they get angry? Because that’s what a growl is.
Have you never heard someone sharply whisper something through the thin space of their teeth? Or when your mother sharply told you to stop it in public as a kid when you were acting up/being too loud? Because that’s what a hiss is.
Have you never heard a man get so blackout angry that their voice BOOMS through the house? Because that’s what a roar is.
Have you never seen someone bare their teeth while talking to accentuate their frustration or anger while speaking with a vicious tone? Because that’s what snarling is.
It’s not meant to be a literal animal noise. For the love of god, not every description is literal. I get some people are genuinely confused, but also some of these people are genuinely unimaginative as fuck.
everyone check out my new ya fantasy novel called a court of blood, bone, ash, roses, thorns, fire, ice, stone, ravens, enemies to lovers, fake dating, two number 9s, a number 5 large, and an extra large fries
So this is a visual representation of “are the new users you’re changing the entire app and website layout/features for in the room with us right now”.
I was just thinking about how important it is to have authors (both fan and professional) with whom I feel… safely unsafe, if that makes sense.
Like, this is going to hurt, there are going to be things that happen to these characters that I absolutely Do Not Want to happen, but I trust you and I trust this ride.
Seriously, this is the philosophy of kink. And theatre. And tabletop RPGs. And rollercoasters.
“I want to experience the emotions of a situation that would be unsafe in real life, but in a safe, make-believe environment, and I need someone I trust to help create that and hold me through it,” is a surprisingly common and very powerful thing.
The other thing I got really into when I was heavily delving into 70s scumbag music was this totally fucking incredible album by the original Alice Cooper band. I mean I wound up listening to and liking a lot of Alice but holy shit, there’s a whole groove in my brain devoted to this record.

Hello Mr. Gaiman, I wish you a good day. The book versions of Crowley and Aziraphale smoked cigarettes, have they ever tried the TV versions and if so did they like it? Thank you for everything ❤️
I don’t remember either of them smoking in the book. They both grumbled about Heaven and Hell being no smoking areas in the New Years Resolutions though so who knows?
no country for old men is a laugh-out-loud, triumphant romp through the american southwest, if you assume anton chigurh is the hero and his actions are righteous. which i do. and also if you replace the soundtrack with something else
